HOW TO TAKE
CARE OF SOMETHING. ?
JEWELRY IS ONE OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE THINGS MANY PEOPLE OWN, BUT IT'S ALSO ONE OF THE MOST AT RISK OF DAMAGE.
There’s no law against wearing your jewelry 24/7. And we certainly don’t suggest you put your jewelry away and not wear it; you should enjoy it! Just set the correct expectations if you do. The more you wear it, and the rougher you wear it, the more you will need to maintain it. All jewelry is susceptible to damage and breaking. Many people are naturally upset that their piece could or would ever break. Even worse, most jewelry stores rarely cover the ugly truth that even the most well-made, expensive pieces can be damaged or broken. (Yes, even dia- monds can break.) Clasps on chains wear out, and where there is friction between two links on a chain, the chain can become so thin it can wear through itself.

HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY JEWELLRY?
TIPS:
01. TAKE YOUR JEWELRY OFF IF YOU’RE INVOLVED IN ANY ACTIVITY WHICH COULD KNOCK OR DAMAGE IT.
“Jewelry can likely take a dip in the pool, or even an occasional shower at the gym, but it’s not a good idea to make it a habit.”
02. TAKE IT OFF WHEN YOU GO TO BED.
“Even though you may have slept in jewelry before without any issue, sleeping in your nice pieces is a definite no.”
03. KEEP IT WELL AWAY FROM CHEMICALS, ESPECIALLY CHLORINE. IF IT DOES COME INTO CONTACT WITH CHEMICALS, RINSE IT IN WATER IMMEDIATELY.
04. BATHE AND APPLY ANY LOTIONS OR PERFUMES BEFORE YOU PUT YOUR JEWELRY.
“Shampoo and conditioner can get stuck behind mountings, and might also contain chemicals that can damage the metal over time.”
05. YOU’D BE UPSET IF SOMETHING SCRATCHED SOMETHING ELSE. STORE IT SEPARATELY.
When moving jewels from one location to another, store them into velvet pouches that are durable enough to protect them from physical and environmental challenges.
06. PUT IT ON LAST, TAKE IT OFF FIRST.
“Your jewelry should always be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. “ Certain chemicals found in modern makeup can cause your jewelry to tarnish as well. It could be a result of your earrings resting on the side of your face or makeup touching and coating your necklace when you remove it.

And remember: "When you see a cool vintage car driving around, it's because someone treated it right from the very beginning.”
TAKING CARE OF SOMETHING IS SUBJECTIVE, NOT AN OBLIGATION AND IS ONLY SOMETHING YOU CAN DEFINE FOR YOURSELF.

Mix a little soap with lukewarm water and rub the item with a soft toothbrush. Tooth- brushes are perfect for cleaning jewelry with difficult-to-access corners. If dirt per- sists, carry out the same process in clean water. Important: gold-plated items require greater care. Rubbing too hard may cause loss of plating. It is therefore important that you do this gently in order to avoid any damage. A special silver-polishing cloth is a great tool to make your jewelry shine again, in the event that it becomes dark- ened over time. However, this technique will not remove any scratches or dents pres- ent on the jewelry.
